“Our specialty is so often associated with aesthetics, but dermatologists spend the bulk of their day to day diagnosing and treating skin cancer and skin, hair, and nail conditions, many of which are disabling, chronic or in some case life-threatening,” says Dr. Carina Woodruff, a board-certified dermatologist with Epiphany Dermatology.

“Most people simply don’t apply enough sunscreen or a high enough SPF,” Dr. Woodruff says. “Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30, but higher SPFs will be more effective.”
