      Active Ingredients

      Ceramides

A ceramide is a lipid molecule which plays an essential role in both water-retention function and barrier function in the stratum corneum – the outer layer of skin. Ceramides ensure that trans-epidermal water loss does not occur too quickly by holding onto water in the skin.

      Niacinamide

Niacinamide helps to visibly minimise enlarged pores, tightens lax pores, improves uneven skin tone, soften fine lines and wrinkles, diminish dullness and strengthen a weakened surface.

      Glucosamine

Because of its stimulation of hyaluronic acid synthesis, glucosamine has been shown to accelerate wound healing, improve skin hydration, and decrease wrinkles. In addition, as an inhibitor of tyrosinase activation, it inhibits melanin production and is useful in treatment of disorders of hyperpigmentation.

      M₁ Light Moisturizer insights:

This is designed to repair, nourish, and hydrate the skin barrier while also brightening and minimizing photodamage and exposure to environmental pollutants.

An optimal moisturizer should combat environmental irritants and pollutants while hydrating and restoring the epidermal barrier of the skin. M₁ contains ceramides, natural components of the epidermis, which restore barrier function and lock in moisture. Ceramides are beneficial for all skin types and have demonstrated improvement for mild to moderate eczema.¹,² To help prevent and treat photopigmentation, we added acetyl glucosamine, a tyrosinase inhibitor, along with niacinamide, the combination of which has been shown to result in visible improvements in pigmentation after 8 weeks.³ Niacinamide also works to hydrate and restore the epidermal barrier and repair damaged DNA.⁴

In contrast to other moisturizers, we do not formulate with common vehicles known to irritate such as propylene glycol/propranediol. We also are exacting about our preservatives and only use those that have the very lowest allergenicity profile based on the latest medical literature.
